Bamboo Bundles
Bamboo is a great fiber for adding cooling properties to your wool blends. It also adds a silky soft texture and drape to your finished products. It has a subtle luster but is not like Angelina or Nylon in the way that it adds luster. It simply adds a beautiful sheen to your fibers. It can actually add to the structural integrity of your fibers and will help make for a cooler finished product. It truly is a versatile fiber that adds some fun and whimsy to your fiber collection.
Bamboo fiber is a relatively new fiber. The fiber is produced from Bamboo pulp (like viscose pulp) which is obtained through a process of hydrolysis/alkalization and bleaching of bamboo stems. The resulting pulp is wet spun in the same way as other pulp based fibers. The fiber is white and silky in appearance and is a cool as a result of its high absorbency, due to the fiber being full of cavities.
The fiber is soft to handle with good absorbency and can be used in blends with other fibers or on it’s own. It also has the unique function of being antibacterial.
